The beautiful city of Wabash, Indiana is famous for many things. But the city’s famous river is gorgeous enough to have a song written about it and make it into the lyrics of the famous “back home again in Indiana” song. As we have heard Jim Nabors sing so many times “About the moonlight on the Wabash, Then I long for my Indiana home.” Most of us can’t even read those lyrics without hearing his voice singing it. Hearing him sing about the moonlight along the banks painted such a gorgeous picture in our minds. If you have ever visited the river you know the beauty of it. Paul Dresser wrote a song that was the best seller of the 19th century called, “On the Banks of the Wabash, Far Away.” Let’s be honest this city and area is so beautiful that we continue to sing about it.
